Tottenham Hotspur have condemed the “vile, dehumanising racism” aimed toward defender Kevin Danso on social media following their 2-2 draw towards Brighton on Saturday.
An error from Danso allowed Brighton‘s Georginio Rutter to equalise in stoppage time, retaining Spurs within the Premier League relegation zone.
In an announcement, the membership stated they’ve reported the “vital and abhorrent” abuse confronted by 27-year-old Danso to the police and authorities.
“We are going to push for the strongest potential motion towards each individual we determine,” stated Spurs.
“Kevin has our full and unconditional help as a participant and as an individual. No-one at this membership will ever stand alone within the face of this.
“Nothing about type or league place can ever excuse or clarify racist abuse. There isn’t any connection between efficiency on the pitch and the best to focus on a participant with discrimination.
“We have now heard and seen vile, dehumanising racism. Behaviour that’s no doubt a legal offence. It is not going to be tolerated.”
The abuse came about in the course of the Premier League’s No Room For Racism marketing campaign this weekend, which is aimed toward selling variety and tackling discrimination in soccer.
In an Instagram put up, exterior, Austria centre-back Danso stated the abuse “does not outline me” and “will not distract me from what’s essential”.
“I do know who I’m, what I stand for, and why I play,” he added.
“Discriminatory abuse has completely no place in soccer or wider society,” the Premier League stated in an announcement.
“Anyone who chooses to abuse others shouldn’t be welcome in our sport and they aren’t a real fan. It’s clear that extra must be completed to handle this problem and we’ll work alongside golf equipment, soccer our bodies, legislation enforcement and social media corporations to make sure this stays a precedence for all.
“Any people recognized and located responsible of discrimination will face the strongest potential penalties, together with membership bans and authorized prosecution.”
