Members of the Jalisco New Technology Cartel (CJNG), some of the highly effective and feared felony organisations in Mexico, have torched companies and erected burning blockades since El Mencho’s demise.
The Mexican Open issued a press release saying “the supposed cancellation of the occasion because of safety points in Jalisco is fake”.
It stated: “The occasion continues as scheduled and event operations are continuing usually.
“We stay in coordination and fixed communication with federal, state, and municipal authorities, below the established safety protocols.”
Britons Katie Boulter and Heather Watson are scheduled to compete within the Merida Open in Mexico this week.
The occasion takes place within the state of Yucatan, which doesn’t seem to have been considerably affected by the violence.
The WTA stated elevated police presence and extra safety measures have been put in place on the event following the incidents in Jalisco, which is about 1,000 km away.
“The protection of gamers, employees, and spectators stays our prime precedence,” the ladies’s governing physique instructed BBC Sport.
“The event is working as scheduled and there have been no experiences of incidents within the area.”
Boulter performs Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia on Monday and Watson faces Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Tuesday.
